Kevin Pietersen tattooes world map; every England century marked by a star
Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen posted an image of a tattoo that he has got printed across his torso on his Instagram account, illustrating all the cities where he had scored an international century, either in Tests, ODIs or T20s, using red-coloured stars. The 34-year-old posted a tweet, asking his followers to find out what the stars meant in the tattoo.
After initial confusion over what the tattoo signified, everyone figured out that each of the red stars indicated a particular city where the right-hander had notched up a ton.
At the start of his international cricket career, the South African-born cricketer had got another tattoo of the Three Lions emblem on his left shoulder. He is currently in Australia, representing the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
Pietersen was sacked from the England set-up after their disastrous 5-0 defeat in the Ashes last winter, with Paul Downton, Managing Director of the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), citing the 34-year-old as a negative influence on the team.
The maverick star finished his England career as their leading run-scorer in international cricket, with 8181 Test runs, 4440 ODI runs and 1176 T20I runs under his belt. In addition, he scored 23 hundreds in Tests and 9 in ODIs.
