Kevin Pietersen to join Sunrisers Hyderabad
Kevin Pietersen is set to return to Indian Premier League (IPL) after his comeback chances to England team were ruled out.
England Cricket Board's new director and former England captain Andrew Strauss slashed Pietersen's comeback chances to national side by saying that they have "massive trust issue".
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought Pietersen for Rs 2 crore at this year's IPL auction. But the right-hand batsman decided to skip IPL and play in English county to preserve chances of his return to England side. He scored a triple century in his last game but even that was not enough to earn a place in England squad.
Pietersen wrote in his column in “The Telegraph” that under the agreement of releasing me from my IPL contract, SRH have the right to recall me for the final stages of the tournament, so on Friday - at their request - I'll be travelling out to India.
"It'll give me a good opportunity to cool down and assess what I'm going to do next. I'm just sorry it won't be putting on an England shirt," he added.
SRH are still in contention of qualifying for the playoffs. They still have 2 matches to play and Pietersen will join the team on Friday as per their announcement.
We are happy to announce that Kevin Pietersen @KP24 is joining the team on this Friday, May 15th
