Kevin Pietersen's Ashes absence is incredibly sad: Shane Watson

Shane Watson and Kevin Pietersen share a light moment

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson believes that England discard, Kevin Pietersen, should be playing in the upcoming Ashes Series and says it is ‘incredibly sad’ that he is being ignored even though he is in good form.

"It's incredibly sad for the cricket-loving public not to be able to see Kevin Pietersen (KP) while he's still at his best," Watson said on Friday in an interview.

Kevin Pietersen has been informed by the new England director of cricket and former captain Andrew Strauss that he is not be considered for England selection this summer because of trust issues.

Watson said that the best players deserve to be playing for their nation and KP is one them.

"Whether playing against him or not, I think it's part of the duty of world cricket to be able to have the best players playing the game while they are still at their best. For me it's very disappointing because I love watching him bat, (just) not against us."

Watto is back in Australia for the impending birth of his second child after a good stint with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League where RR made it to the top four but lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator. He would be heading to West Indies soon to join the Australian Team for a two Test match series.
