KKR will always be there for Ankit Keshri's family: Gautam Gambhir
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir has said that the two-time IPL champions will do everything in their power to provide support to the late Ankit Keshri’s family. The 20-year-old cricketer from Bengal passed away yesterday after suffering a fatal collision with a colleague on the cricket field a couple of days ago.
"The boy is not there with us and it is very disturbing. You can't replace what the family has lost. But I can assure you one thing that we (KKR) would go out there and do whatever we can for the family,” Gambhir said after KKR’s resounding victory over the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
"We would always be there and hopefully we could contribute as much as we could. We will do anything possible for them.”
The whole cricketing world united in mourning the loss of the talented cricketer, with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara among others passing their condolences to Keshri’s friends and family.
Keshri, who was part of the 30-man preliminary squad for the Under-19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last year, was actually the 12th man for the concerned match between East Bengal and Bhowanipore club at Salt Lake and had come onto the field of play just moments before the tragic accident as a replacement for Railways all-rounder Arnab Nandi.
