Kohli's gripe is only with 'a couple' of Australia players

India captain Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli insisted there are only "a couple of individuals" in the Australia team he does not consider to be friends and stated that comments he made after India's Test series win were "blown way out of proportion".

The India captain said he was "really good friends" with all of the Australia players before the first Test, but revealed that his stance had changed following a 2-1 series win.

Not for the first time, Kohli had verbal exchanges with opposite number Steve Smith on and off field during a heated series, which the top-ranked side wrapped up with an eight-wicket success in Dharamsala.

Kohli, who missed the fourth and final Test due to a shoulder injury, has clarified his comments as he prepares to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

The prolific batsman tweeted: "My answer at the post-match conference has been blown way out of proportion. I did not categorically say the whole Australian team but only a couple of individuals.

"I continue to be in good terms with the few guys I know & who I've played with at RCB & that doesn't change."

Shane Watson, Travis Head and Billy Stanlake will be team-mates of Kohli at RCB this year, while Mitchell Starc, Kane Richardson and Nic Maddinson have previously played for the franchise.
