Kolkata Knight Riders cheerleaders get emotional after IPL exit, Shahrukh Khan thanks them

KKR cheerleaders were in tears on Wednesday, and got a show of love from SRK as a result

A touching sight was seen near the boundary ropes of Wednesday’s knockout match between KKR and SRH, as the Kolkata team were on the verge of being knocked out from this year’s IPL. The cheerleaders, not considered by many to be an integral part of a team’s structure, were evidently as much is despair as the rest of the team at what they were seeing unfold on the field.

With KKR’s chase floundering, batsmen departing at frequent intervals, the girls did not have too much to do, and were seen betraying their emotions while sitting at the touchlines. Twitter reacted with sympathy, and despite some cynicism, most lookers-on were moved by the show of emotions produced by live sport, something all fans have experienced at some time or the other.

KKR team owner Shahrukh Khan too showed his appreciation for the cheerleaders, saying that ‘the girls’ often go unacknowledged, despite always keeping the spirits of ‘the boys’ up.
