Kolkata Knight Riders post pictures of "Bollywood Knights"

Andre Russell has been one of KKR’s most valuable players this’s season

The Kolkata Knight Riders has always been among one of the most popular IPL teams due to its direct connection to Bollywood. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the principal owner of the Kolkata-based franchise.

The franchise has fared well on the field in recent years with two IPL titles since 2012 and looks good as a title contender this season. They are currently sitting in the top half of the points table. The Gautam Gambhir-led side has also been touted as one of the most balanced teams in this year’s tournament.   

However, it’s not only the cricketing aspects which make KKR so popular among the fans. The Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise has recently posted some pictures of their knights in Bollywood avatar. KKR is running a hashtag on social media called #BollywoodKnights.

West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell has been presented as the ”AndreBali”, which is KKR’s version of “Bahubali”. KKR posted the photo on their official Facebook page.

The 28-year-old Jamaican is currently one of the best T20 players in the world and has earned a nickname of “Superman” for his outstanding performances. He has been superb for the Kolkata-based team. In 10 matches this season so far he has scored 149 runs with a strike-rate of 156.84 and also picked up 14 wickets.

Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world is presented as the “EK Hai Shakib” which is KKR’s own version of “Ek Tha Tiger”.

The 29-year-old cricketer is one of the key overseas players of the team. He has played 6 matches so far in this year’s competition and scored 86 runs including a superb knock of unbeaten 66 against the Gujarat Lions at the Eden Gardens. He also picked up three wickets with his slow-left-arm orthodox bowling.  

Australian batsman Chris Lynn, who has taken some marvelous flying catches for the KKR has been presented as the Indian silver screen superhero “Krrish” in Bollywood Knight’s version of “Khris”.

The 26-year-old hasn’t quite performed with the bat in this year’s tournament so far but contributed heavily with his electric athleticism in the field.

Another important member of the team Suryakumar Yadav has been presented as “Rowdy Yadav” in Bollywood Knight's take on “Rowdy Rathore”.  

The 25-year-old middle-order batsman is has been an important member of the team. He has also contributed with his athleticism in the field.
