KPL 2015, Match 5: Mysuru Warriors take on Mangalore United
Hubballi, September 4, 2015: Two teams who lost their opening encounters in the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015, defending champions Mysuru Warriors and Mangalore United battle it out in the chase for their first win and first points in the opening match on Friday.
Mysuru found their bowling department a little rusty and Mangalore found their total of 141 too little to handle.
It is very likely that Mysuru will rethink their bowling strategies to get the striking combination they need while Mangalore will be hoping for a better showing from their top order batsmen than the one that was displayed on the opening day.
While it is true that Mangalore United’s fortunes depend largely on Karun Nair, wicket-keeper/batsman KC Avinash’s knock cannot be overlooked. The right-hander showed that he can hold his end and also smack the ball when the need arose. Arsdeep Singh Brar showed he could use the long handle and should be in the thick of action against the Warriors.
“We have to do a lot better. In the last game, we had issues and we are working towards ironing out those chinks. The team is practicing hard and we are very confident about the next game,” said Mr. BM Farookh, Owner, Mangalore United.
Mysuru Warriors do have the depth in batting and apart from that short moment when they lost CM Gautam and Manjesh Reddy at the same score, which distracted them, their batsmen showed they were in good nick.
Mr. Arjun Ranga, Owner, Mysuru Warriors, said, “Even though we lost the previous game there are a lots positives that we can take into the next game. Arjun Hoysala and Manjesh Reddy delivered superb performances and our spinners did well too. We will look to build on that.”
Their medium pacers will have to put up their hands for the team’s cause. They will need to plan big and more that the planning it will be the execution of those plans that will make the difference. Having gone for eight and over and more, the Mysuru medium pacers will have to focus a lot more if the team has to advance.
