KPL 2015, Match 8: Bellary Tuskers take on Namma Shivamogga

Bellary Tuskers team stretch before the start of their practice session

Hubballi, September 05, 2015: The second contest under lights of the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015 on Sunday, September 6 will be a challenge for both teams involved, Namma Shivamogga and Bellary Tuskers.

Namma Shivamogga were clinical in chasing the highest total of the tournament so far, 160 set by title holders Mysuru Warriors. They showed purpose when they took the field. Although the bowlers will have to still tune up the length and line they bowl, the batting seems to be a steady line-up.

They have batsmen who can graft and ones who can blaze away too in their ranks as was obvious on the opening day. Their victory over the Warriors will definitely have raised their confidence levels and the team management will expect a steady performance from the players.

“We don’t like changing winning combinations. So we should stick to the eleven that won on opening day. We have the batting so it does not really bother if the bowlers go for a few now and then”, said Shivamogga skipper Stuart Binny.

Bellary did let go a wonderful opportunity while chasing a small target against the Bulls. Off their mainstays, Amit Verma will have to shoulder a bigger role than he did on Friday as will skipper Devraj Patil and Manjunath. Opening batsman Bharath Chipli will hope to be amongst the thick of things having faced just one delivery so far.

Captain Devraj Patil and his team, however, raring to go. “Yes it is disappointing that we couldn’t chase a total of 120 but we are going to take the next game as a challenge. Each and every game is tough, but we are pumped up ready to take them head on,” he said.

Bellary did well to restrict the Bulls. There was discipline in the ranks and it was apparent that the bowlers bowled to a plan. They will have to do it once more for their team to shrug off the chance lost and look ahead for better and much-improved performances.
