Latest ICC ODI Rankings for batsmen: AB de Villiers retains top spot as David Warner rises
In the latest ICC cricket rankings for ODI batsmen, Australian opener David Warner surged three places to 12th even as the dynamic AB de Villiers kept his place at the top. Both India and South Africa have three batsmen each in the top ten alongside a couple from New Zealand.
Surprisingly, the number one ranked team Australia do not have a single batsman in the top ten. Maverick all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who had entered the recently concluded tri series in the West Indies at 14 now finds himself at 22.
Despite being ruled of the series midway due to a broken finger, Warner had scored 165 runs from his first 3 matches including a century against South Africa in Basseterre. As a result, the 29-year old has become the highest-ranked batsman from his country.

Second-placed Virat Kohli is 74 points adrift of de Villiers who averaged just 24.20 from 5 innings in the Caribbean tour. Meanwhile, Aussie skipper Steve Smith could not move up from 15 in spite of prolific recent form.
Hashim Amla at three is followed by the Kiwi duo of Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill who are separated by one rating point. Elegant right-hander Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan are the remaining batsmen from India to feature in the top ten with veteran Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan sandwiched between them at 7th.
South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock is close on the heels of Dhawan as England’s Joe Root rounds off the top ten. The Yorkshireman would want to utilize the last two ODIs of the five-match series against Sri Lanka at home and improve his rating.
