For the first time in history, New Zealand find themselves at the second spot in the ICC Test rankings. They have 107 points to show and sit right behind India who are at the top spot with 116 points.

The Kiwis replaced South Africa as Faf du Plessis' men suffered a 0-2 series defeat at the hands of a spirited Sri Lankan side.

Sri Lanka though didn't move up in the rankings but gained four crucial points. South Africa's next Test encounter is likely to take place in October against India.

New Zealand look to consolidate their spot

On the other hand, New Zealand have a good chance of cementing their spot as they face Bangladesh next at home. The three-match Test series will begin on 28 February. Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch will host the three games. Earlier this month, the hosts beat Bangladesh convincingly by winning all the three ODIs.

The Aussies had a tough time in recent past as they lost the Test series to India at home before kneeling down to Pakistan in UAE. The side finally tasted victory in the Test series against Sri Lanka. With 104 points on the board, Australia sit at the fourth spot.

England, on the other hand, fancied their chances against Jason Holder's side. But the visitors were humiliated by the Windies in the Caribbean Island as they lost the Test series by a margin of 1-2.

England lost the first two Tests but made a terrific comeback in the third and final encounter. They are in the fifth spot. The inaugural ICC Test Championship will get underway post the 50-over ICC Cricket World Cup in England.
