Stuart Law throws hat in the ring for the post of Indian coach

Stuart eyes the coveted Indian coach’s post

The current coach of Australia ‘A’, Stuart Law, has expressed his desire to be the next coach of Indian cricket team. Law was formerly the coach of Bangladesh. A stint of nine months which saw the minnows reach the final of Asia Cup. He has also worked previously in the capacity of the coach to the Sri Lankan team after World Cup of 2011. His CV from the point of view experience in the rough and tough of sub-continent seems satisfactory.

But to run the Indian circus is no mean feat. Is he competent enough?  Indian dressing room boasts of some of the finest cricketers of this age. To gain their respect and confidence would prove to be a challenge for Law. During the media interaction on the sideline of India ‘A’ vs Australia ‘A’, he remarked,

“I would love to(work as an Indian coach). Especially to work with some of the greatest cricketers in the world. I have been in the sub-continent quite a bit. The first experience isn’t always your most memorable. But as your understand the place, learn the culture and learn how it works, its quite enjoyable. So if someone wants to knock on the door and have a chat about it I will be more than happy to sit down and listen.” as reported by the The Hindu

On being queried for his thoughts on the upcoming tour of India in Sri Lanka, he commented,

“It’s always good. India is seen as Sri Lanka’s big brother. But having said that India, after not having played well against Bangladesh, have a point to prove as well. They have got new leadership. Virat Kohli led beautifully in Australia. If he continues with that aggression India will make a formidable opponent.” as reported in the daily.

All we can do is hope that BCCI takes a good look before appointing the Coach, let’s not repeat another Greg Chappell,  exactly a decade after.
