"LFG!!! C'mon" - Mitchell Starc sends a message to brother Brandon ahead of his high jump match in Paris 2024 Olympics
Star Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc sent a two-word message to his younger brother Brandon ahead of the high jump qualification event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Brandon competed in the men's high jump event but he narrowly missed out on a place in the finals.
Ahead of Brandon's high jump qualification, Mitchell shot a video of his younger brother who was on TV. The Australian fast bowler then uploaded that clip on his Instagram story and sent the following message to Brandon while also tagging his Instagram username:
"LFG!! Cmon @bstarc."
Unfortunately for the Starc family, Brandon finished sixth in the men's high jump qualification round. Only the top five athletes made it to the final. Starc cleared a height of 2.24m, which was not enough for a place in the next round.
Who is Brandon Starc? All you need to know about Mitchell Starc's younger brother
For the unversed, ace Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has a brother named Brandon, who is a very successful high jumper. Brandon is a multi-time national champion in his sport. He has also competed in two Olympic events in the past.
Participating in his first Olympics at Rio 2016, the Aussie finished 15th. Five years later in Tokyo, he narrowly missed out on a medal. He won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 but he could not do so at the grand stage of the Olympics.
This year, Australian fans had high hopes for the New South Wales-based high jumper. However, he failed to qualify for the final. Brandon is 30, which means if he works hard on his fitness, he can still return to the Olympics four years from now in the event in Los Angeles.
