India vs WICB President XI Warm Up Match Day 2 Live Cricket Score and commentary; Watch Practice match live streaming online here

India bowled particularly well during the last two sessions on Day 2 of the two-day practice game against WICB BPXI

Final Score: India 258/6 dec. in 93 overs (Rohit Sharma 54, KL Rahul 50, Warrican 2/61) drew with WICB BPXI 271/7 in 87 overs (Hope 111*, Warrican 50*, Mishra 4/71)

So that’s about it for the day and the match, as the players are shaking hands now and have decided to close out the contest. The match has been drawn, with the WICB BPXI scoring 271/7 in 87 overs, in reply to India’s total of 258/6 dec.

86 overs – WI BPXI 270/7. Warrican 50, Hope 110; India 258/6 dec.

The bowlers are definitely getting tired. Ishant bowled two half volleys outside off stump and one of them disappeared for a boundary. There was another boundary in the same over. Warrican has brought up his 50 now and the WICB BPXI have overhauled India’s total of 258/6 dec. and lead by 12 runs now.

Ishant Sharma has been brought back.

84 overs – WI BPXI 255/7. Warrican 41, Hope 105; India 258/6 dec.

Warrican is getting into the groove now. He has amassed 13 runs from the last two overs. Seems like the Indians are getting tired now.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes back.

82 overs – WI BPXI 238/7. Warrican 28, Hope 105; India 258/6 dec.

The last hour was signalled at 4:30 pm local time, which is 2:00 am IST. This means that we still have about 20 minutes of play left.

The second new ball has been taken. Umesh Yadav to bowl.

80 overs – WI BPXI 227/7. Warrican 21, Hope 101; India 258/6 dec.

Shai Hope gets his hundred, by carving Umesh Yadav for a boundary. What a brilliant knock by the West Indies top order batsman. This should give him a lot of confidence.

Umesh Yadav to bowl from the other end. It’s 224/7 after 79 overs, Hope 101, Warrican 18.

78 overs – WI BPXI 217/7. Warrican 17, Hope 96; India 258/6 dec.

Bowling short won’t get him the wicket, though. Mishra drops one short and gets pulled away by Hope through midwicket for four. Hope moves on to 96. It would be a brilliant hundred if he gets there.

Mishra comes back, yet again, and his bowling from around the wicket to the right-handed batsmen. He would be aiming at a five-wicket haul.

76 overs – WI BPXI 213/7. Warrican 17, Hope 91; India 258/6 dec.

Hope is slowly but steadily inching closer to his century. India, on the other hand, would be dying to wrap up the innings quickly. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav has replaced Amit Mishra.

73 overs – WI BPXI 207/7. Warrican 15, Hope 87; India 258/6 dec.

And, Mishra switches ends. Shami bowled a couple of yorkers in the last over. Are these indications of some reverse swing that is on offer?

71 overs – WI BPXI 202/7. Warrican 11, Hope 86; India 258/6 dec.

Mohammad Shami has been brought back. He replaces Mishra.

The 200 has been raised by the WICB batsmen. They’re only 58 runs behind India’s total in the first innings. It’s 200/7 after 70 overs with Dawes batting on 10 and Hopes on 85.

69 overs – WI BPXI 195/7. Warrican, Hope 84; India 258/6 dec.

Hope has looked solid since the moment he had occupied the crease for the first time today. A fluent boundary off Ishant through the cover region was a testament to the form that he has recently gained. He looks set to get a hundred.

The drinks break has been taken. WICB are 191/7 after 68 overs; Dawes 6, Hope 81; Mishra 4/49

67 overs – WI BPXI 189/7. Warrican, Hope 80; India 258/6 dec.

Shai Hope holds the key for the WICB BPXI and he should look to bat positively with the tail. Mishra, meanwhile, would be aiming for his fifth wicket. Hope needs 20 more runs to complete a century.

65 overs – WI BPXI 181/7. Warrican, Hope 75; India 258/6 dec.

Mishra had done a wonderful job here for his side, and he isn’t done yet. Three more wickets for India to take, and they would back themselves for it.

Ishant Sharma comes back, replacing Kumar.

Jomel Warrican  is the new batsman.

Fourth wicket for Mishra, as Jacobs lobs one in the air only for Rahul to take the catch on the off-side. WICB are 177/7. The Indian leg-spinner has bowled beautifully today.

63 overs – WI BPXI 177/6. Jacobs 1, Hope 74; India 258/6 dec.

Amidst all the carnage, Shai Hope has raced away to 74, which is the top individual score in this match. Should he get a hundred, he would walk out at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Guyana, on July 21 with a large chunk of confidence.

Damion Jacobs is the new batsman.

Mishra gets his third wicket. Vishaul Singh departs, as he gets caught by Pujara off Mishra.

61 overs – WI BPXI 171/5. Singh 14, Hope 69; India 258/6 dec.

The boundary in the last over set aside, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s spell has been a mesmerising one. His figures read 10-5-11-1.

59 overs – WI BPXI 169/5. Singh 14, Hope 67; India 258/6 dec.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes back, and he gets carved for a boundary. Hope and Singh are batting sensibly now. The best thing for WI’s confidence from here would be if they out-bat the Indians and overhaul their score.

57 overs – WI BPXI 164/5. Singh 14, Hope 62; India 258/6 dec.

The run deficit is now under a hundred runs. India would look to bowl the WICB side out before they overhaul India’s total. Results aside, the game has now become more about confidence.

55 overs – WI BPXI 158/5. Singh 8, Hope 62; India 258/6 dec.

Mishra and Yadav continue from where they had left off before tea. No damage done in the first two overs of the session, as opposed to the 30 minutes of play that preceded it, that saw 4 wickets fall in 6 overs.

The umpires and the players are taking the field now. The third session is about to get underway. Amit Mishra to start the proceedings for India.

TEA – Day 2

A dramatic turnaround in then last six overs of the second session turned the game in India’s over. It all started when Mishra got Chandrika stumped off a flighted delivery and got Blackwood caught behind off the very next ball. Shami, from the other end, in the very next over, got Roston Chase caught by Rahane, while Yadav got Dowrich trapped LBW in the last over before tea. India would take a lot of strength from the last 30 minutes of Session 2, and would look to bowl the WICB side out when they come out for the third session.

53 overs – WI BPXI 151/5. Singh 1, Hope 62; India 258/6 dec.

Vishaul Singh is the new batsman and scores a solitary run before the players go off for TEA.

The fifth wicket is down now. Umesh Yadav comes back and picks up a wicket. He traps Shane Dowrich leg-before-wicket. WICB have lost half their side, and the last 4 wickets have come in the last 4 overs.

50 overs – WI BPXI 150/4. Dowrich 7, Hope 62; India 258/6 dec.

Three quick wickets have certainly revitalised the Indians. There were two slips and a short leg in place for Mishra in the 52nd over. India should maintain the pressure here and not let the batsmen settle down once again. Meanwhile, the 150 has been raised by the WICB batsmen.

Umesh Yadav has been brought back.

50 overs – WI BPXI 139/4. Dowrich 4, Hope 55; India 258/6 dec.

WICB XI are 4 down now, and India are back in the contest. Shane Dowrich is the new batsman.

Wickets are coming thick and fast for India now. Suddenly, the West Indies batsmen are falling apart. Shami gets into the act and dismisses Chase, getting him caught by Rahane at slip.

48 overs – WI BPXI 132/3. Chase 3, Hope 54; India 258/6 dec.

Mishra was on a hattrick but didn’t get it.

All of a sudden, India are back in the game. Roston Chase is the new man.

Jermaine Blackwood comes in and goes out off the very next ball. Caught by Saha, behind the stumps. Two in two for Mishra and he is on a hat-trick.

Mishra coming round the wicket now. A short leg has been put in place. And the wicket comes! Finally, India have broken through. Flighted by Mishra, Chandrika comes down the track in an attempt to heave him over the top but missed the ball. Saha whips the bails off, and Mishra gets his first wicket.

46 overs – WI BPXI 122/1. Chandrika 62, Hope 54; India 258/6 dec.

Nothing seems to be working for the Indian bowlers. Kohli is trying to rotate his bowlers as much as he can. He’s giving them short spells, perhaps in a bid to unsettle the batsmen and not allow them to get used to a particular bowler. But, none of his tactics have worked so far.

Mohammad Shami to bowl from the other end. He replaces Ishant Sharma.

44 overs – WI BPXI 113/1. Chandrika 57, Hope 50; India 258/6 dec.

Mishra flights one up, and Chandrika uses his feet, comes down the track and drives it uppishly towards long off. It didn’t go for a boundary but made the batsman’s intentions clear. This is a brilliant counter-attack by the WICB batsmen.

Mishra has been brought back into the attack.

There is a mini team meeting happening at the moment at one of the two ends. Clearly, the Indians are worried about Chandrika and Hope’s progress here.

The players are back after the break. Ishant Sharma starts the proceedings. He gets flicked off the pads by Hope for a boundary, who also brings up his fifty in the same over. Both the batsmen have now reached their half-centuries.
