IPL 2016 Full coverage

That’s all from Mumbai. Now MI will move to a new location for their home venue.

Rohit for his 68 runs is adjudged the Man of the Match.

MI lost Parthiv early. Rohit and Rayudu stadied the innings. Pandya and Butler went in quick succession. But when Pollard and Rohit got going, there was no stopping them. Rohit ended with 68 runs and Pollard got a quick 51 off just 17 balls. He hit 6 colossal sixes. A sheer treat for the MI fans at the Wankhede.

With this win, MI reach to the number 3 spot on the points table, clearly a win at the right time for them. KKR stay at number 2.

Yesterday it was Morris, tonight Pollard, that is the thrill of IPL that the overseas players bring,

6 sixes and 2 fours, Pollard bring MI home. He was teriffic tonight. Magical hitting by him. It was due from him and yet again he does what he has done in the previous 99 games for MI.

MI win by 6 wickets!!!.

After 18 overs, MI 178/4

Rohit Sharma 68(49) Kieron Pollard 51(17).

And Pollard finishes with 3 mammoth SIXES!!!. He has certainly made his 100th game for MI memorable. Reaches to 50 off just 17 balls.

19 needed off 18.This should be like a walk in the park.

After 17 overs, MI 156/4

After 16 overs, MI 149/4

And he does it again. 3 SIXES in the over

And again. SIX more!!! Pressure on Satish.

Shakib finishes with the figures of 4-0-30-1.

After 15 overs, MI 126/4

The big man Pollard is in. He is playing his 100th game for MI. Can he make it a special one?

Jos Butler 15(15) c Lynn b Narine

And Lynn does it again. Yet another beauty of a catch. Butler hit the ball to long off, Lynn jumps and takes the catch, throws the ball back as he was rushing into the boundary, jumps back and takes it. How many times are we watching such catches these days?

Caught!!!

After 12 overs, MI 102/3

Rohit Sharma 50(36) Jos Butler 11(9). Rohit reaches half century. Now he too has the most number of half centuries(29) in the IPL along with Gambhir and Warner. He is in sublime form. 100 up for MI.

After 11 overs, MI 91/3

Rohit Sharma 45(33) Jos Butler 5(6). Must say, with Pollard and Pandya to follow, MI are the favourites to win at the moment. KKR need Rohit’s wicket desperately.

MI have already defeated KKR earlier in this season. They would want to end the last match at Wankhede on a winning note.

After 10 overs, MI 85/3

Rohit Sharma 43(31) Jos Butler 1(2). It is critical now for Rohit to stay for MI.

Butler is the new batsman.

After 9 overs, MI 78/3

Rohit Sharma 37(27)*

A crucial breakthrough at this stage. He is still threatening even with the modified action.

Krunal Pandya 6(5) b Narine

He charged at the bowler, the bowl turned in and dismantled the stumps.

OUT!!! Narine castles Krunal Pandya

After 8 overs, MI 75/2

Rohit Sharma 35(23) Krunal Pandya 5(3). Appeal from Uthappa for stumping of Pandya. The foot was in the air for a while. The third umpire took ages to give tha Not out!! He survives a close one.

After 7 overs, MI 68/2

Rohit Sharma 33(20) Krunal Pandya 0(0)

Krunal Pandya joins Rohit in the middle.

Rayudu gone for 32 off just 20.

And didn’t KKR need it at this stage. He was in top form. Shakib gets the all important one.

GONE!!! It’s a blinder at long on,Rayudu is caught by SuryaKumar Yadav

After 6 overs, MI 64/1

Rohit Sharma 30(17) Ambati Rayudu 31(17). 19 runs off the over. They are cruising to the target. That is the end of the powerplay and the fifty partnership is raised.

Both have gone after Unadkat, making maximum use of the powerplay. Easy pickings for the batsmen.

SIX!!! Rohit sends yet another into the crowd. Wankhede is roaring.

Two classy batsmen at the crease. Crowd is loving it.

After 3 overs, MI 26/1

Rohit Sharma 8(6) Ambati Rayudu 16(10). Rayudu gets 10 off Shakib’s over. A six a four, he is looking in good touch again.

After 2 overs, MI 16/1

Rohit Sharma 8(6) Ambati Rayudu 6(4)

Rayudu replaces him.

Parthiv 1(2) c Pathan b Yadav

Umesh Yadav gets a wicket off the first ball. Wide outside the off stump, Parthiv slashed hard at that. Pathan takes a good catch to his left.

And Parthiv is OUT!!!

After 1 over, MI 8/0

Rohit Sharma 7(5) Parthiv Patel 1(1)

And Rohit smashes a SIX!!! Second delivery goes out of the park. Is there a better puller in the game than him?

Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel to start the MI innings. Jaydev Unadkat with the first over.

MI will again depend heavily on the captain Rohit Sharma. Parthiv played a swashbubling innings in the last game and Rayudu was also looking in good form. With big hitters like Butler, Pollard and Pandya brothers, MI will back themselves to chase it down. It is going to be a thrilling second innings.

Gambhir and Uthappa are having a lovely time in the IPL. Here again they put up 69 runs for the first wicket. Gambhir continued his purple patch and scored 59 runs. Uthappa managed a quick fire 36. Shakib went early for just 6. Later, Yadav, Russell, Pathan and Lynn, all chipped in but no one could provide the big finish KKR were looking for. Nevertheless, they have the bowling line up capable enough to defend the total.

After a flying start, KKR at one stage looked like getting over 180. Despite 3 drop catches, MI managed to restrict KKR under 180. Still, 174 is a challenging total. But the dew will certainly play its part. Can the team from Mumbai chase down the total, we will find out shortly in the second half.

After 20 overs, KKR 174/5

Chris Lynn 10(10). Yusuf Pathan 19(8).

Amidst all the poor fielding, Hardik Pandkya produces a stroke of brilliance in the field. The ball was sailing over his head at mid wicket boundary, he jumps and throws the ball back in play, saves a certain boundary. Thrilling stuff this.

After 19 overs, KKR 166/5

Chris Lynn 3(5). Yusuf Pathan 18(7). 3 drop catches in the innings. This is going to hurt MI badly.

Oh dear. What is happening out there. Southee drops two catches in a row. Kiwis need to practice catching. Jonty Rhodes will be gutted.

After 18 overs, KKR 156/5

Chris Lynn 2(3). Yusuf Pathan 9(3). Pathan has started off in the fourth gear.

Yusuf Pathan is now in to finish the innings on a high.

Russell goes for 22 off 16 [4s:3]

That’s out.. BOWLED!!! Southee removes Russell.

After 17 overs, KKR 143/4

Andre Russell 20(14). Chris Lynn 0(2). 13 off Bumrah’s over, not getting the yorkers right tonight.

Russell is going after Bumrah. Fasten your seatbelts folks. We are in for a ride.

After 16 overs, KKR 130/4

Andre Russell 7(9). Chris Lynn 0(1)

Chris Lynn is in at 6. Remember his breathtaking catch to dismiss ABD?

Andre Russell is in. A perfect platform set by Gambhir for him.

Gambhir gone for 59 off 45 balls

McClenaghan to Gautam Gambhir, THAT'S OUT!! Pollard takes another catch

After 13 overs, KKR 116/2

Gautam Gambhir 55(41) Suryakumar Yadav 18(13). Skipper reaches a half century.

This is Gambhir’s 29th half century. He is now on par with David Warner for the most number of half centuries in the IPL.

After 12 overs, KKR 101/2

Gautam Gambhir 42(37) Suryakumar Yadav 16(11). Big hitters like Lynn, Russell and Pathan to follow, KKR should target at least 180 from here.

After 11 overs, KKR 93/2

Gautam Gambhir 40(34) Suryakumar Yadav 10(8).

MI had sluggish starts in previous 2 seasons of IPL. They recovered in the second half and made it to the playoffs each time. They have had a poor start even this time. Can they repeat the history and finish in the top 4 again?

After 10 overs, KKR 87/2

Gautam Gambhir 36(31) Suryakumar Yadav 8(5). MI have pulled it back a bit with 2 quick wickets.

After 9 overs, KKR 78/2

Gautam Gambhir 34(29) Suryakumar Yadav 1(1)

Suryakumar Yadav is in now.

Shakib goes for just 6. Double strike for MI.

Hardik Pandya to Shakib Al Hasan, THAT'S OUT!! Caught by Parthiv Patel!!

After 7 overs, KKR 67/0

Gautam Gambhir 31(24) Robin Uthappa 35(17). MI badly need a wicket here.

After 6 overs, KKR 59/0

Gautam Gambhir 25(21) Robin Uthappa 33(15). Fifty partnership up between the two. End of the powerplay. A huge score on the cards?

After 4 overs, KKR 38/0

Gautam Gambhir 21(16) Robin Uthappa 17(8)

After 3 overs, KKR 32/0

Gautam Gambhir 19(13) Robin Uthappa 13(5). KKR are up and running now. 17 runs scored off Southee’s over.

After 2 overs, KKR 15/0

Gautam Gambhir 9(9) Robin Uthappa 6(3). McClenaghan drops a dolly. Gambhir survives.

After 1 over, KKR 4/0

Gautam Gambhir 1(4) Robin Uthappa 3(2). Tim Southee bowls a tight first over.

Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa walk out to bat. MI team in a hurdle before entering the field.

Mumbai play their final game in Wankhede this season against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The final encounter at Wankhede this season was scheduled to be the IPL grand final, however, due to the draught situation in Maharashtra, all IPL games have been shifted out of the state starting May. So, the game will have a special feel to it. You can follow live score updates and over by over by commentary here with us, for Today’s IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Playing their 200th T20 in this IPL: Yusuf Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and now Andre Russell. Russell becomes the 34th player to achieve this feat.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS XI: Gautam Gambhir (C), Robin Uthappa (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Chris Lynn, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Andre Russell, Rajagopal Sathish, Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine.

MUMBAI INDIANS XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Parthiv Patel (WK), Ambati Rayudu, Jos Buttler, Kieron Polllard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McClenaghan, Tim Southee, Jasprit Bumrah.

Mumbai Indians have fielded an unchanged side.

Two changes for KKR: Chris Lynn and Jaydev Unadkat come in, and Morne Morkel and Piyush Chawla sit out.

TOSS: MUMBAI INDIANS have WON the toss and have decided to BOWL first!

There are visible cracks and there is also a green tinge to the pitch. Let it be, it is a Wankhede surface, a batting paradise.

We're just moments away from the toss.

Toss would be extremely crucial tonight, especially at a venue like the Wankhede that has been pretty popular for the sixes being hit in the matches held here. Generally teams back themselves to hunt down any target, given the relatively short boundaries there, and the pitch being one of the flattest of all tracks in India.

MUMBAI INDIANS: By their standards, this has not been the worst start to a campaign. Leading the bottom half of the table at 5th, Mumbai will look to carry on the momentum they have generated after beating Kings XI Punjab in their previous match. It was a comprehensive victory, posting 190 on the board. There were plenty of positives as Parthiv Patel and Ambati Rayadu were in the runs. Jos Buttler thrilled everyone with a short cameo. Jasprit Bumrah was back in the rhythm, McClenaghan was in the wickets, plenty of positives indeed.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Their campaign has gotten off to an absolute flier. With the CSK not around anymore, KKR, have to be one of the most settled squads having retained the same core of players over the past few years. Their last contest was against the Rising Pune Supergiants in which they recorded a hard fought win. Chasing a total of 160, they lost their openers Uthappa and Gambhir early. Suryakumar Yadav then stepped up to late and led his team to a win. Everything seems to be ticking at the moment.

Pitch Report: It has been a batting paradise this season and we can't expect anything different. It's the last game here this season and you can't rule out a 200 plus score.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Plenty of humidity as you would expect at this time of the year in Mumbai. Maximum temp - 34, minumum - 27 degrees celsius.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

Last game at the Wankhede, plenty of runs, plenty of entertainment, plenty of drama. Kolkata have lost only game this season, against the Mumbai Indians, at home. Mumbai will look to do the double on the league leaders. Rohit Sharma has only clicked with his side chasing.
