Gambhir has been brilliant again and he hit Ashish Reddy for two more boundaries.

KKR- 100/2 after 14 overs

Mustafizur has been brilliant today, and that yorker would have been too good for most batsmen in world cricket. Russell was on the floor.

KKR- 93/1 after 13 overs

Timely strike by Ashish Reddy as he accounts for Robin Uthappa. Andre Russell has walked in. Gambhir meanwhile got to his 50.

Gambhir has now got a move on, another boundary.

KKR- 50/0 after 8 overs

Gambhir has been careful, but he has been severe on anything which has been short, once again pulled a ball away with disdain. Not very good from Henriques.

KKR- 42/0 after 7 overs

First over of spin by Karn Sharma and it has been played watchfully by the openers. Uthappa got a bit funky with his reverse sweep attempt.

KKR- 36/0 after 6 overs

Gambhir has got going with a pull for a boundary off Sran, and after the powerplays, KKR are off to a sedate start.

KKR- 28/0 after 5 overs

Excellent start by Mustafizur, and he has already brough out his cutters, Uthappa was hit, but this has been a tight start by SRH.

KKR- 25/0 after 4 overs

Uthappa has been timing the ball so well, he is taking all the pressure off Gambhir who will look to bat through the innings.

KKR- 19/0 after 3 overs

A boundary keeps coming in from every over, bowling has been tight but they need to strike do the Sunrisers. Uthappa is looking good though.

KKR- 13/0 after 2 overs

Definite signs of swing from Sran too, but they need wickets now, early strikes and this match could get interesting.

KKR- 7/0 after 1 over

Robin Uthappa as usual is off to a beautiful start, pristine timing in that over from Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

So KKR will now need 143 to register their second victory.

SRH- 142/7 after 20 overs

A run out of Ashish Reddy, and Andre Russell was excellent in that last over. KKR will be the happier of the two sides.

SRH- 135/6 after 19 overs

Body blow for SRH, as Eoin Morgan gets out at the worst possible time. He played well though. Excellent over from Umesh Yadav though, in spite of the six hit by Ashish Reddy off the final ball.

SRH- 125/5 after 18 overs

All acrobatics there at the long on from Andre Russell and Piyush Chawla. Superb stuff. Morgan however has shifted the momentum back with his six off the final ball.

SRH- 115/4 after 17 overs

Morgan gets under that one from Shakib and then hits it clean over long off. They are getting to a decent total now. Will have to keep going.

SRH- 105/4 after 16 overs

Naman Ojha going for it now, carves one beautifully over point for a maximum. And we have the second timeout. Morkel under the pump.

SRH- 94/4 after 15 overs

Naman Ojha is an excellent player of spin and he is doing it well here. Late kick for the Sunrisers. Lovely sweep for a maximum. Sunil Narine completes his spell, not a bad performance on his return.

SRH- 86/4 after 14 overs

Expensive start from Piyush Chawla, two boundaries in that over. Morgan finally connects with his reverse flick.

SRH- 73/4 after 13 overs

Two boundaries over extra cover by Eoin Morgan off Sunil Narine. Good from Morgan, some momentum for the SRH.

A timely boundary by Naman Ojha behind point, and they will now look to build some momentum.

SRH- 55/4 after 11 overs

Another excellent over by Sunil Narine. Morgan is looking to bat deep.

SRH- 52/4 after 10 overs

Another slower ball by Andre Russell and Deepak Hooda perishes in the deep. In a hole are the SRH.

SRH- 48/3 after 9 overs

Sunil Narine bowls with a much smoother action and has been played out with caution. That will be the first strategic timeout.

SRH- 43/3 after 8 overs

Another tight over, this time by Andre Russell, bowling it straight and mixing his lengths.

SRH- 41/3 after 7 overs

An over of singles. A partnership needed.

SRH- 36/3 after 6 overs

Umesh Yadav bowls straight and Henriques was in front according to the umpire. Sunrisers in a real heap.

SRH- 30/2 after 5 overs

Tight start from Shakib. The pitch is on the slower side, and Shakib is always a threat. Morgan tried his reverse sweeps in that over.

SRH- 26/2 after 4 overs

Warner looked good but was deceived by the slower ball by Umesh Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav was sharp at short cover.

SRH- 19/1 after 3 overs

Morkel has generated extra bounce and that accounted for Shikhar Dhawan who once again disappointed.

SRH- 14/0 after 2 overs

Tight start from Umesh Yadav, but Warner is looking to cut lose.

SRH- 9/0 after 1 over

It started well, but ended up being an expensive first over. Also, Warner was caught off a no-ball.

Hello, and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of Game 8 of the Indian Premier League 2016 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.

Sunrisers are the bottom placed side at the moment in the points table, while the Kolkata Knight Riders are placed third. However, the Knight Riders have played one more match than their opponents. The Hyderabad franchise would be itching to get their first points on the board. But it is not going to be easy at all.

Let's wait and see what significant role the heat and humidity plays in the first day game of the Indian Premier League 2016.
With the day games to be held only on weekends this year there is some respite for the players as well as for the fans from the approaching heat of the Indian summer season. Also, organizing day games on weekends enables a large chunk of the diaspora to go and watch the action live in the stadiums as Saturdays and Sundays are, generally, public holidays in India.
The heat and humidity at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium would be another litmus test through which the players would have to pass. Also, the ground has no roofs, making it difficult even for the fans to watch the game.
It would be all about taking the momentum into the tournament for both the sides, as they would be looking to come back from the defeats they suffered in their last games.

SRH have won the toss and will bat first.

Kolkata Knight Riders Playing XI: Gautam Gambhir (C), Robin Uthappa (WK), Manish Pandey, Shakib-Al-Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Andre Russell, Suryakumar Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI: David Warner (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Moises Henriques, Ashish Reddy, Naman Ojha (WK), Eoin Morgan, Deepak Hooda, Karn Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman, Barinder Sran

Sunil Narine is back in the Kolkata line-up and in the absence of Brad Hogg, the onus will be on him to lead the bowling attack. His record in the IPL suggests, he is more than capable of doing just that but how will he fare in his first IPL game of the season?
