Lucky to have had seniors like Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman and Kumble: Harbhajan Singh
Out-of-favour off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, credits the Fab-5 – Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble for his successful cricketing career and believes that the time when he played with the legends was the ‘golden generation’ for Indian cricket.
“I’m very lucky to have had seniors like them and the wealth of knowledge they had. I’ve become successful because of them and achieved something,” said Harbhajan.
“I’m grateful to these guys, they have played a big role in my career,” he added.
Bhajji made his entry into the Indian Team and blossomed under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. He lavished praise Dada and addressed him as one of the best Indian skippers.
“Sourav Ganguly is one of the best captains of Indian cricket team ever,” said the turbanator at the launch of Harbhajan Singh Institute of Academy (HSIS) at the Delhi Public School in Megacity in Kolkata (his fifth training centre in India).
Harbhajan has been one of the best off-spinners Team India has ever had and after his successful International career, he is looking to pass on his knowledge and skills to the budding cricketers.
“We’re not here to make money, we’re here to promote cricket. That’s what our agenda is. There’s enough talent in Bengal, India and wherever I go. All we need is to give them is best infrastructure and facilities. Who knows we may produce another Dada (Sourav Ganguly) from here,” he asserted.
