Mahela Jayawardene suffers security scare
Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene suffered a scare while travelling to attend the legendary Test Captains’ dinner after his Sri Lankan Airlines flight had to undergo an emergency landing due to security reasons.
The flight which carried 267 passengers landed at the Stansted Airport in London on Saturday due to security threat.
Jayawardene tweeted about the incident and credited the police for their efforts.
“Thanks all for concern. What an experience! Due to security threat got diverted to Stansted. Credit to local police. 36 hours later, still no bags. SriLankan Airlines’ UK staff handling of situation was sadly appalling,” he said.
Jayawardene will be joined by companions Arjuna Ranatunga, Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara at the event.
