Mahmadullah and Anamul Haque back in Bangladesh squad

Mahmudullah is back after a month

The ODI squad for Bangladesh against South Africa has been announced, reports ESPNcricinfo. Mahmudullah and Anamul Haque have been included, while Taskin Ahmed, Mominul Haque and Rony Talukdar have been benched.

Both Mahmudullah and Anamul were earlier out due to injuries. The World Cup hero had to stay out because he had fractured his finger in June before the India series. He has now been declared fit. Anamul had injured his shoulder against Scotland in the World Cup. After a surgery, he has performed excellently in domestic cricket, scoring a century and three half centuries in matches for the South Zone.

Taskin, too, is out because of an injury. He has a left side tear. Talukdar could only play the second T20 against South Africa, in which he scored 21 off 22 balls.

According to selector Faruque Ahmed, Talukdar still has promise, and Anamul could bat in the top order, but Litton is a better choice than Rony.

"We think [Anamul Haque] Bijoy is in form," Faruque said. "We need him for a particular position. We discussed with the team management before picking him. Bijoy will play in the top order.

"Rony came in a circumstance where we didn't have Bijoy and Mahmudullah. Soumya [Sarkar] was successful as an opener. We are thinking for these two matches, but it doesn't necessarily mean he is out. He is among our best 17-18 players. He will return when we need him. Litton kept well against India, scored a couple of 30s in the ODIs and a 40-odd in the Test. Litton is more effective than Rony, so we kept him in the squad”, ESPN cricinfo reported.
