Mahmudullah ruled out of India series with a fractured finger

Mahmudullah scored back to back hundreds in the World Cup

Bangladesh have suffered a huge blow ahead of their home series against India next week. Star batsman Mahmudullah Riyad who had a very good World Cup campaign where he scored back to back hundreds has fractured his finger and has been ruled out of the entire series. His availability for the T20 matches against South Africa is currently unknown.

Nasir Hossain has been named as his replacement in the Test squad. He hasn’t played a Test for Bangladesh since September 2014 when he played in a match against the West Indies.

Mahmudullah got hurt while training this morning," Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said. "He was injured on his left index finger. X-rays have showed he has a fracture. He didn't train thereafter. It takes about three to four weeks for this type of fracture to heal."

Bangladesh already suffered a scare earlier when their ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza was involved in an accident. He is already not a part of the Test squad and is expected to be fit for the ODI series by the time it starts.
