Manoj Prabhakar wants MS Dhoni to drop Ishant Sharma

The calls for Varun Aaron are getting loud

Former Indian fast bowler Manoj Prabhakar has said that the new entrant Varun Aaron must be given a chance in place of Ishant Sharma, who has been hit all around the park by the Kiwi batsmen in the ongoing bilateral series in New Zealand.

According to a story published in the Times of India, Prabhakar said that a team comprising of incompetent pacers and spinners shouldn’t be playing at the highest level of the game. However, Manoj Prabhakar, one of India’s finest swing blowers of the past, feels that there is still hope if Ishant Sharma is replaced with Varun Aaron in the team.

“Our bowlers are completely clueless during slog overs. Ishant Sharma shouldn’t be playing for India. “Why isn’t Aaron playing,” he asked. “The fact that there are two spinners in the team is surprising. Given by our performance, it will be difficult to retain the World Cup. If we are wasting time on Ishant Sharma, God help the Indian team,” he added.

Prabhakar said Mohammad Shami is the only bowler who has performed well; but there is none to back him up. He also added that Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be used in an extended spell.

“I don’t understand why R Ashwin is playing when you have an all-rounder in Stuart Binny. I believe that all-rounders who bowl medium pace are much more effective. Suresh Raina could be used as Ashwin’s replacement,” he said.

“Being a top team if we struggle to beat New Zealand, the management needs to introspect. It should learn how New Zealand bowlers are using slow deliveries,” he added.
