Manoj Tiwary to fly to England for knee surgery

Injured Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary is set to fly to England on Sunday for an impending knee surgery.

The young Indian star has been very unfortunate even in the past with injuries, leading to a start stop career in international cricket. This time it’s a twisted knee injury that has ruled him out of the game for at least six months.

Tiwary will be visiting Dr Andrew Williams, who is an accomplished orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist in the United Kingdom. He has worked with Shoaib Akhtar and Andrew Flintoff in the past and has also worked with Cheteshwar Pujara more recently.

The operation is likely to be performed on the seventh of August, according to reports from NDTV.

“I’m returning on August 16 and thereafter will go for rehab at NCA (Bangalore),” Tiwary said on the sidelines of an event where he was felicitating U-17 cricketers of the Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy who had won the CAB Junior Tournament.

As Tiwary has been ruled out for more than six months, he will in all probability miss the initial part of this years Ranji Trophy. Wriddhiman Saha will have the responsibility of leading Bengal in the absence of Manoj Tiwary.

When asked about his habit of picking up injuries at inopportune times Tiwary said:  “I’ll have to be more careful this time. I’m positive and looking forward to come back fit again.”
