On this day, two years ago, India lifted its second World Cup trophy after a 28-long wait. Let’s take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from the game:

Confusion, confusion: The coin was flipped twice over

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They made a total score of 274 with M Jayawardene scoring a 103 of just 88 balls. 

Kumara Sangakara scored 48 runs before being dismissed by Yuvraj Singh:

Ouch: Sachin Tendulkar was caught behind by Sangakara after scoring just 18. 

Finishing it in style: Mahendra Singh Dhoni was vindicated in his decision to move up the order despite a poor showing through the tournament. The skipper scored 91, including the match-winning runs.

Prince of Punjab: Yuvraj Singh won the Player of the tournament award

Gautam Gambhir threw his wicket away and lost out on a World Cup ton by just 3-runs:

The wait over: India successfully chased down their target with two overs to spare to lift the cup

About time: The Little Master finally had the one title that he craved for so long
