MI Predicted Playing 11 vs DC for Match 42 of IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians (MI) will face off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 42 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 27.

With three wins from eight matches, the five-time champions are moored to ninth spot in the IPL 2024 standings. However, they did defeat the Capitals in the reverse fixture and will hope that they can complete the double to get their campaign back on track.

MI's squad for IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya (c), Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Harvik Desai, Arjun Tendulkar, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Jasprit Bumrah, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Luke Wood, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Anshul Kamboj, Naman Dhir, Shreyas Gopal, Kwena Maphaka, Gerald Coetzee, Mohammad Nabi, Shivalik Sharma.

On that note, here is MI's predicted playing XII (including one impact sub) for Match 42 of IPL 2024 against DC.

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (wk)

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will enjoy conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, although Khaleel Ahmed won't be easy to counter in the powerplay. The openers didn't deliver in the last game and need to step up if MI are to get over the line.

Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hardik Pandya (c), Tim David, and Mohammad Nabi

Suryakumar Yadav is the key for MI in the middle order, which now wears a settled look following Nehal Wadhera's inclusion in the last game. Hardik Pandya hasn't been in great form, and Tim David has blown hot and cold, but there's enough firepower and class to get the job done.

Mumbai might consider dropping Mohammad Nabi for Romario Shepherd, who sizzled against Delhi in the earlier IPL 2024 meeting. But there are a few left-handers in the DC batting lineup, and MI have enough pace options even without Shepherd.

Lower Order: Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, Nuwan Thushara

Nuwan Thushara entered the fray in the last game but didn't have enough runs to play with. He could be key for the Indians at a venue where death bowling will be essential.

Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee and Piyush Chawla will make up the rest of the attack. Chawla, who replaced Shreyas Gopal against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), will have a task on his hands in the middle overs.

MI's predicted playing XII (inc impact sub): Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hardik Pandya (c), Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, Nuwan Thushara.

Other impact sub candidates: Harvik Desai, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya.
