MI Predicted Playing 11 vs LSG for Match 67 of IPL 2024
The Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 67 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 17. With only four wins from 13 matches, the five-time champions are at the bottom of the standings.
Mumbai were the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race and have only pride to play for. They have lost to Lucknow in four of their five meetings, so they will know that they need to be at their best to finish their disappointing campaign on a positive note.
Hardik Pandya and company will be inclined to ring in a few changes and give fringe players chances, but it's hard to see what they can do.
MI's squad for IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya (c), Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Harvik Desai, Arjun Tendulkar, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Jasprit Bumrah, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Luke Wood, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Anshul Kamboj, Naman Dhir, Shreyas Gopal, Kwena Maphaka, Gerald Coetzee, Mohammad Nabi, Shivalik Sharma.
On that note, here is MI's predicted playing XII (including one impact sub) for Match 67 of IPL 2024 against LSG.
Openers: Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan (wk)
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan haven't lived up to their billing in IPL 2024. Harvik Desai is available as a reserve keeper, but Kishan is unlikely to be rested for the final encounter of the league stage. Rohit, meanwhile, is in desperate need of runs ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Middle order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, and Tim David
Naman Dhir played a breezy cameo in the last game and should retain his place in the middle order alongside Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, and Tilak Varma. Captain Hardik Pandya will want to notch up his first meaningful batting contribution of the season while continuing his decent bowling form.
Tim David hasn't been at his best in IPL 2024. While Mumbai might be tempted to play the likes of Mohammad Nabi and Romario Shepherd, they might stick with the big-hitting Aussie for the last game.
Lower order: Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, Anshul Kamboj, Nuwan Thushara
Nuwan Thushara had to fight to push Kwena Maphaka and Luke Wood out of the side. While it would make sense for MI to hand Maphaka a chance, given his potential, Thushara has been one of the team's better bowlers since making his IPL 2024 debut.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is in contention for the Purple Cap, is unlikely to be rested according to reports. He could partner with Anshul Kamboj in the pace department, with Gerald Coetzee having fallen out of favor.
Piyush Chawla is expected to be the lead spinner once again, ahead of Shreyas Gopal.
MI's predicted playing XII (inc impact sub): Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Tim David, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Anshul Kamboj, Nuwan Thushara.
Other impact sub candidates: Harvik Desai, Shams Mulani, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya.
