MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2023: 3 moments that generated a buzz among fans in Match 69
The Mumbai Indians (MI) completed yet another successful run chase of 200 or more runs in the IPL 2023 season, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) comfortably by eight wickets and with two overs to spare.
Cameron Green smashed a brilliant hundred and captain Rohit Sharma's half-century helped the hosts get the two points that take them to fourth position in the points table. They still need to await the result of the final league game of the season to know if they have qualified for the playoffs, but Mumbai will be content that they did what was in their control.
On that note, let's take a look at three moments from the game that grabbed the attention of fans:
#3 Akash Madhwal's stunning yorker to Harry Brook
It was a rather dull display of bowling by the Mumbai Indians for almost 14 overs of their bowling innings as the SRH openers added 140 runs for the first wicket. A target around the 220-run mark looked set with the firepower that the visitors had in their middle order.
However, Mumbai pacer Akash Madhwal led a brilliant fightback from the hosts as they restricted SRH to 200/5. Madhwal picked up four wickets and was simply brilliant with his yorkers.
The searing Yorker bowled to Harry Brook was simply the icing on the cake as the England batter had his stumps rattled and had to return back for a golden duck.
#2 Sanvir Singh dropping Rohit Sharma in the powerplay
The target of 201 seemed to be a bit under par and SRH needed wickets early on to have an upper hand in the second innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early and sent back the dangerous Ishan Kishan, but a massive mistake in the field from the visitors robbed them of a perfect start.
Mumbai Indians were 35/1 in the fifth over when Rohit Sharma mistimed a slower delivery in the air. He looked gone for all money as Sanvir Singh peddled back from short mid wicket to take the catch. However, he couldn't get in the right position and shelled a big chance.
Rohit went on to make a fine half-century and added a massive 128 runs for the second wicket with Cameron Green. SRH will look back at that missed opportunity and ponder what could have been.
#1 Cameron Green smashing fastest IPL hundred this season
Cameron Green played quite lower down the batting order in the past few games, but got his opportunity at No. 3 on Sunday and made it count big time. He came at a time when Mumbai were in a spot of bother but made his intentions clear with a boundary of the first ball.
Green gave Mumbai Indians the impetus they needed in the powerplay and just kept on scoring boundaries to keep them ahead in the chase. The young Australian all-rounder's big smile said it all as he hit the winning runs and also brought up his hundred off just 47 balls.
