A superlative hundred by Cameron Green saw Mumbai Indians (MI) trounce Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets to finish their IPL 2023 league campaign with a resounding win at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 21.
After being put to bat first, Sunrisers ended up on 200/5. Openers Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal added 140 runs for the opening wicket and SRH were set for a strong finish.
However, Akash Madhwal's four-fer helped MI to close the innings out admirably.
In reply, MI bossed the second innings. Cameron Green played his best innings for MI and struck a wonderful 100*, while Rohit Sharma scored a well-made fifty to guide MI home with two overs to spare.

After SRH made a wholesale of changes in their starting XI, Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal got the opportunity against MI and made the most of their chances in Mumbai.
The two gave SRH a rocking start, accumulating 140 runs in just 83 balls. While Vivrant was first to get out on 69, Agarwal made a fantastic 46-ball 83.
Other SRH batters failed to make their mark and the side scored just 56 runs off the last 36 balls.
Akash Madhwal, who has been one of the finds of the season for MI took a fantastic four-wicket haul.
Chasing 201, MI batters made a mockery of the target and left SRH bowlers clueless. Despite Ishan Kishan going out for 14, Rohit Sharma stood tall and put away his early struggles to score a brilliant 37-ball 56.
Cameron Green, who batted at No 3, played his best IPL innings and clobbered eight boundaries and as many sixes en route to his 100*. He faced 47 balls during his knock and struck at an outstanding rate of 212.77.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mayank Dagar took one wicket apiece for SRH.

- While Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan just added 20 runs for MI's first wicket, it was enough to make them the most successful pair for the franchise in IPL history. Rohit and Kishan have now added 1,349 runs together in total which is the most by any duo for MI.
- Cameron Green's century against SRH was the ninth instance of a batter scoring a hundred in IPL 2023. This is the most number of centuries a single IPL campaign has seen. Previous highest was in 2022 when the league saw eight hundreds.
- With their successful run-chase of 201 on Sunday, Mumbai Indians have now become the joint-most successful team to chase totals of over 200 in IPL history. This was MI's fifth instance of chasing down a total over 200 runs. Alongside MI, Punjab Kings are the other franchise to hunt down totals of over 200 five times.
