MI vs SRH, IPL 2023: Toss result and playing 11s for today's match, umpires list and pitch report
Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match number 69 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 21. MI are among the three teams in contention for the last playoff spot. They need to beat SRH, preferably by a huge margin, to have a decent chance of qualifying.
Apart from Mumbai, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last league match, and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are also in the race for the fourth playoff spot. While RR finished the league stage with 14 points, RCB are on 14 with one game in hand. Mumbai also have the same number of points ahead of their clash against Hyderabad.
A win on Sunday will get Mumbai to 16 points. Subsequently, if Bangalore lose to Gujarat or the match is rained out, MI will go through to the playoffs on the basis of a higher number of points. But if RCB win, Mumbai’s chances to progress are slim due to a poor run rate, unless they do something exceptional against SRH.
Today's MI vs SRH toss result
MI have won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking about the decision, Rohit Sharma said:
“We are going to chase - just the nature of the pitch and we are comfortable with it. Looking at the pitch it looks a little dry as well. Whatever the pitch has to offer it will offer in the first half. As the game goes on and the sun sets, it should get better to bat on."
For Mumbai, Hrithik Shokeen is being replaced by Kumar Kartikeya. For SRH, Vivrant Sharma will bat at the top and Karthik Tyagi and Umran Malik are back as well.

Today’s MI vs SRH pitch report
According to Simon Doull and Kevin Pietersen, the wicket is a very good one. The surface is knit together quite nicely, which means it's a good cricket wicket. Yorkers and good length have worked for bowlers, but everything else has been dispatched. Heavy length, top of off-stump is absolutely vital.
