Misbah replaces Pombesbach in CPL

Misbah-ul-Haq

Pakistan’s Test and ODI skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq has been signed as a replacement for Luke Pombesbach in St.Lucia Zouks squad for the debut season of the Caribbean Premier League, starting on July 30. Australian batsman, Luke Pomesbach has withdrawn from the CPL on account of personal reasons.

The ice cool Misbah comes into the T20 tournament on the back of a consistent run against West Indies in the recently concluded 5 match ODI series. His 260 runs coupled with shrewd and smart leadership skills saw him fetch the man of the series honours. The old warhorse may have been shunted out of the Pakistan national set up but his latest domestic T20 tryst saw him lead Faisalabad Wolves to victory in the Super Eight T20 Cup four months ago.

Misbah’s tally of 189 runs at a glittering average of 37.20 suggests that the 39-year old is still a force to reckon with in the abbreviated format.

Misbah will have the company of various international stars like Darren Sammy, Tino Best, Albie Morkel, Herschelle Gibbs, Tamim Iqbal in the Zouks side.

“Although it is unfortunate that Luke wont be joining us we have a high quality replacement in Misbah-ul-Haq,” Matthew Maynard the Zouks assistant coach said.

“We are excited Misbah is joining the side and look forward working with him as we strive for success in the inaugural Caribbean Premier League,” added Maynard.
