Mitchell Johnson trolled after Twitter banter with Mitchell McClenaghan

A friendly banter between two MI teammates turned into something else

A friendly banter between Mitchells, Johnson and McClenaghan took a turn for the worse when Dean Jones interjected and added that currently Ashish Nehra is the best left-arm pacer over 30. To which the former Australian pacer quickly retorted "His run up is definitely faster" before adding that it was just some friendly banter.

But Indian fans didn't let it be as a harmless banter turned into a series of tweets defending the 38-year-old Indian fast bowler and questioning Johnson's credentials as only one of them are still playing international cricket for their country.

It all began with Mitchell Johnson replying to some comments the New Zealand pacer had made about how he changed his action to something similar to Johnson's.

Speaking after signing for Sydney Thunder for this year's KFC Big Bash, McClenaghan spoke about his "cracking" relationship with the former Australian fast bowler and about how he enjoyed the pair's time together at the Mumbai Indians.

"And I remember changing my action to bowl like Mitch. I made my first-class debut with Mitch's action and it's kind of evolved from there. I got my first first-class wicket off a wide full toss to point. I probably emulated him probably a little too well. At that point I realised I needed to change," he said.

"To meet him at Mumbai (playing together in the Indian Premier League) was bloody awesome, I was s***ting myself. I was just hoping he was going to be a good bloke … he's an absolute gem. We got on like a house on fire. I think he's having separation issues at the moment, I get the odd message from him."

Johnson was replying to those comments with smileys before challenging the Kiwi pacer for a bowl off. Just as this was happening and there was talk about the best left-arm pacer over 30, Australian Legend Dean Jones chipped in with the name of "Nehra" and while Johnson dismissed him and said it was just a bit of banter, the Indian fans certainly didn't see it as that as he was trolled on Twitter for his comments.

Here is the entire conversation:

That is when Dean Jones chipped in.

That is when things took a turn in the wrong direction as a fan said his "line and length" were better to which Johnson replied that he was having a little bit of banter.

While he said that he was just having fun, the Indian fans didn't leave it at that.
