"I've got no time for Pollard" - Mitchell Starc admits he hasn't talked to the West Indian after ugly spat

Starc and Pollard

“I’ve got no time for Pollard”

The Indian Premier League’s most ugly on-field spat between Royal Challengers Bangalore’s pacer, Mitchell Starc and West Indies‘ all-rounder Keiron Pollard is an incident that will not be forgotten by cricket viewers. Being one of its kind, this incident raised many TRPs.

The incident continues to linger in the minds of teams and players. Australian bowler Starc, who got away by getting 50% of his match fee cut after the spat admits that he had not spoken to Pollard since the incident occurred because he believes it is not worth talking about.

“Kieron’s done that a lot in the past and I don’t think it’s worth talking about. No, I’ve got no time for Pollard and I haven’t talked to him at all,” Starc said in a conversation with Times of India.

Prominent cricket commentator and expert Harsha Bhogle had called for the use of red cards in cricket after the ugly spat, and Starc agreed, saying he anyway stays out of ‘that sort of thing’.

“Yeah, I guess so. That sort of situation would probably warrant yellow and red cards if it ever does come to that. But I’m definitely staying out of that sort of thing anyway. It’s not in my nature to get involved in that sort of stuff. It was a heat-of-the-moment thing.”

This is Starc’s first season in IPL and the Aussie is excited to be a part of RCB. “I wasn’t sure what to expect but I had heard a lot from Australian players. To be picked up by RCB was a huge thrill. It’s fantastic to be a part of a team full of world class players. I would never ever have the chance to play alongside Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli or Yuvraj Singh otherwise. It’s a chance for young blokes to progress and it’s the same for me too.”
