Mohammad Amir dazzles in his comeback match
Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir marked his comeback to competitive cricket with a two-wicket haul in the Super8 T20 Cup in Faisalabad. He picked a wicket off his very first ball when he bowled Sajjad Ali, and then came back to pick Mohammad Naseem. He finished with figures of 2 for 15 in 2.1 overs.
Ahead of the match, Amir thanked his fans for backing him during the tough times. "I am completely ready mentally and physically to play in this tournament and am feeling totally relaxed. There have been some offers for me to play in domestic T20 leagues around the world but this would be in contravention of ICC conditions so we have had to decline and just concentrate on playing domestic cricket in Pakistan,” he said.
“My immediate focus is simply to prepare for the first-class season ahead and to leave the decisions for any recall to international cricket in the hands of the selectors," he added.
Earlier in the year, the ICC cleared Amir to play domestic cricket with immediate effect even though the ban was due to end on September 2, 2015. Amir had been convicted of spot-fixing in the 2010 betting scandal that had rocked the cricket world.
