When Mohammad Amir bowled one of the best overs in T20 cricket

Mohammad Amir’s final over against Australia

During a group match between Australia and Pakistan at the 2010 ICC World T20, the men from Down Under, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, put on a brutal display of big-hitting, giving Pakistan a target of 192 from their 20 overs in the process. Their target would have been much bigger, however, had the then 18-year-old Mohammad Amir not produced one of the greatest "death" overs in the history of T20 cricket.

Going into the final over, Australia were 191/5 and on course to cross 200, but Pakistan took five wickets in the over and not a single run was scored, with Amir taking three of the wickets to fall. The other two dismissals were run-outs.

His first ball had Brad Haddin caught at short third man, his second yorked Mitchell Johnson and his sixth clean-bowled Shaun Tait. In between Mike Hussey and Steve Smith were both run out by Kamran Akmal. Australia went from 191/5 to 191 all out in the matter of six balls.

Pakistan, however, were not able to successfully chase the target as they were bowled out for 157, thereby giving Australia a 34-run victory.

Interestingly, they faced each other during the semi-finals of the tournament as well, and Australia emerged triumphant yet again.
