Amir made a comeback to international cricket after serving a six-year-ban for his involvement in spot-fixing

Mohammad Amir, the Pakistani fast-bowler, is no stranger to new beginnings. Having returned to Test cricket after a long gap of 6 years, Amir, who is only 24, made a fresh start against England at Lord’s in July this year. Now, after the conclusion of the tour, the cricketer has decided to embark on another new beginning. Amir tied the knot with a British-Pakistani girl, Narjis, in Lahore.

According to media reports, the wedding ceremony included Mehendi on Monday, followed by the reception on Tuesday and Wednesday. Amir and Narjis met for the first time in 2010, while the cricketer was still serving a five-year-ban that was imposed on him due to his involvement in spot-fixing. A nikkah was held in 2014.

“This is a love marriage and both the families happily consented to their union. Narjis has stood by my side during the most difficult moments of my life,” Amir told the media.

It may be recalled that Amir was imprisoned for a short period of time in London, due to his involvement in spot-fixing activities during a Test match between Pakistan and England at Lord’s in 2010. Although he persevered and bounced back well, one can think about then torrid times that the cricketer would have gone through, especially at such a ripe young age. (Amir was only 17 years old at the time.)

Hence, the cricketer’s aforementioned quotes should be taken with a tinge of extra emotion, and one should be able to make out as to when the love between the couple blossomed. Narjis became Amir’s friend when he needed someone the most, and quite obviously, they went on to become life-partners.

Here are the best pictures from the wedding.

Amir’s Pakistan Super League team, the Karachi Kings, wished the cricketer on the special occasion.

The couple did look absolutely fascinating in their traditional wedding attire.

The friends and relatives from both parties made their presence felt at the ceremony to bless the couple and pray for their marrie life.

The cricketer himself thanked his well-wishers, as well as, the holy Almighty for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon the couple, and prayed for his wife’s good health and prosperity.

However, Amir, despite his busy schedule and the wedding that was scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, had made known to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about his availability for the upcoming series against the West Indies in the UAE, which is the reason why he was picked for the Tests and as well as for the limited-overs fixtures that have been scheduled.

Amir would be travelling to Dubai along with his wife now, in order to make himself available for the 1st T20I against the Caribbeans that starts on Friday.
