Mohammad Amir will get a good reception in England, says Shane Warne
Legendary spinner Shane Warne has backed Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir‘s tour of England to be a smooth one. In an interview with Sky Sports, the 46-year-old also expected the upcoming Test series between the two countries to be an interesting affair.
When asked if the English crowds will give Amir a hard time, Warne refuted the possibility and instead believed, “I am sure he will get a good one. I feel for him. He’ll be fine. He is an excellent bowler. Hopefully, he will be at his best for the series“
Amir was found guilty of spot-fixing alongside Mohammad Asif and the then skipper Salman Butt during the 2010 Lord’s Test against England. As a result, all three of them were received five-year suspensions from the game.
Having served his ban, the left-arm seamer made a comeback into international cricket at Pakistan’s limited-overs series in New Zealand earlier this year. He will return to the scene of his crime when the first Test begins on July 14.

There are huge expectations on Amir with his skipper Misbah ul Haq even claiming that he could become the best bowler in the world. It remains to be seen if the pacer can replicate his performance from the previous trip which yielded him 19 wickets from 4 matches.
Warne felt that the series could be decided on which team’s batting lineup was more technically adept to the conditions. The Australian icon affirmed, “I think both the bowling sides will be good. I think the top order will be tested of both Pakistan and England.”
The leg-spinner added, “The weather has been horrific, pitches are going to nip around and seam. So, it is going to be tough for those top-order batters. I think it is going to be a good series.“
