Mohammad Hafeez joins Caribbean Premier League

Pakistan Twenty20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez has signed for the Caribbean Premier League that starts on July 26 in the West Indies. It is a long tournament similar to the Indian Premier League, as it ends on August 29. Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Ross Taylor are the other big stars to have joined the Caribbean Premier League.

Mohammad Hafeez, no.2 ranked all-rounder in ICC Twenty20 rankings, has played 43 Twenty20 matches, and led Pakistan in 14 Twenty20 games. He has been a successful T20 captain for Pakistan as he managed to win a majority of the T20 matches that he played and brought surprising results. His superb knock of 86 runs off 51 balls against South Africa in the second T20 helped Pakistan to clinch the series against the Proteas. He became the first player from Pakistan to have scored more than 1000 runs in the Twenty20 format.

“The World T20 in the Caribbean allowed me to experience playing T20 in the Caribbean and I am looking forward to playing there once again,” said Hafeez. “The people in the West Indies love their cricket and I am sure the fans will get behind their teams. I also hope that cricket fans back in Pakistan and around the world will follow me during this first CPL season, and join in the fun.”
