Mohammad Hafeez reported for suspect bowling action
Former Pakistan T20I captain Mohammad Hafeez and Dolphins bowler Prenelan Subrayen were reported by the umpires for suspect bowling actions in the ongoing Oppo Champions League T20 on Saturday.
The Lahore Lions captain is the latest from a growing list of international players to have had their bowling actions questioned over the past few months. Earlier this month, Hafeez’s international teammate Saeed Ajmal was suspended from bowling after having been found out to be straightening his elbow more than the allowed limit of 15 degrees.
Hafeez and Subrayen are currently placed on a warning list and may continue to play in the time being. If they are reported for a suspect bowling action again, they will be suspended from bowling in matches run by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The 33-year-old Pakistani is an accomplished limited overs international bowler, and is currently ranked 6th and 8th in the ICC Rankings for ODIs and T20Is respectively. He is the second Lions bowler to be reported at this year’s CLT20, with Adnan Rasool reported earlier this week for the same.
The umpires who were involved in reporting Hafeez and Subrayen’s bowling actions were Kumar Dharamasena, from Sri Lanka, Vineet Kulkarni and third umpire Anil Chaudhary, both from India.
