Mohammad Kaif joins Sportskeeda as Guest Editor for the 2016 World T20

Mohammd Kaif, the poster boy of the new-age generation of Indian cricketers driven by an emphasis on fitness and fielding, has joined the Sportskeeda team as its Guest Editor for the duration of the 2016 World T20.

Kaif played 13 Tests and 125 ODIs for India, and also chanced his arm in a few IPL seasons – for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was known as a 'busy’ batsman at the crease, expertly finding the gaps in the field and converting the ones into twos. But he is remembered most fondly for his athletic, agile fielding; together with Yuvraj Singh, Kaif redefined the role of the fielder in India, and forever changed the attitude towards this much-ignored discipline of cricket.

Kaif became a household name when he led India to that remarkable win over England in the 2002 Natwest final. He was also part of the team that reached the final of the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, and he played the role of the ideal foil when Sachin Tendulkar went bonkers against Pakistan while chasing a target of 274.

Kaif has dabbled in politics too, and continues to play domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh. While his international numbers may not be too flattering, his impact on Indian cricket cannot be denied. With his athleticism and hard work, he gave new meaning to the phrase ‘professional Indian cricketer', and the national team has seen a plethora of disciplined cricketers who have followed in his footsteps.

In his role as Sportskeeda's Guest Editor, Kaif will be hosting a series of live videos on social media, while also answering questions from the fans. Additionally, he will be penning a regular column on the website where he talks about his experiences as an Indian cricketer and also about the goings-on at the 2016 World T20.
