Mohammed Shami gets BCCI contract

<p>
Mohammed Shami has been a vital cog in the Indian Cricket team since his debut in 2013

After weeks of dominating the Indian headlines with multiple accusations levelled against him, ace Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami can finally breathe a sigh of relief as BCCI finally offered a Grade ‘B’ contract to him

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) cleared the name of the 28-year-old after Neeraj Kumar, the head of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit, submitted a confidential report to the COA which concluded that the pacer will face no further action under the BCCI’s anti-corruption code.

"The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) had requested Mr Neeraj Kumar, former Police Commissioner of Delhi and Head of BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit, to investigate the allegations against Mohd. Shami in so far as they pertain to the provisions of the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code," COA stated in a media release.

For those unaware, Hasin Jahan, wife of Mohammed Shami, levelled multiple accusations of extramarital affairs, domestic abuse, attempt of murder and adultery among other things and filed an FIR against the Indian cricketer. Jahan took to social media to post several screenshots of text messages claiming to be from the phone of the speedster.

Mohammed Shami was on domestic duty in Dharmashala, representing India 'B' in the Deodhar Trophy when the controversy made it to the headline. Mohammed Shami took to Twitter to respond to the claims.

He tweeted, "Hi. I'm Mohammad Shami. Ye jitna bhi news hamara personal life ke bare may chal raha hai, ye sab sarasar jhut hai, ye koi bahut bada humare khilap sajish hai or ye mujhe Badnam karne or mera game kharab karne ka kosis ki ja rahi hai." (All the allegations of the news regarding my personal life is completely false. This is a huge conspiracy to ruin my image and my game.)

In the light of the controversies, BCCI withheld the name of Mohammed Shami when they released the list of 26 contracted players in the new four-category model.
