Mohammed Shami gets an extra day's rest ahead of World Cup semis

Mohammed Shami

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami requested for an extra day’s rest ahead of the crucial semi-final clash with Australia according to Team India’s media manager RN Baba. Shami missed India’s group stage match against UAE due to a knee injury and this news may spark off an injury scare for India’s wicket-taker at the World Cup.

Shami’s request was accepted and he didn’t take part in the nets or played football with the other members of the team today.

Baba confirmed the news, “He had requested for an extra day's rest and his wish was granted.”

The media manager was quick to refute any fears of an injury, however, and he said, “Shami is 100 hundred percent fit and is available for selection in the semi-final against Australia.”

The 25-year-old has taken 17 wickets at the World Cup and will be one of India’s main men in the semi-final clash against Australia on Thursday.
