Mohit hit the right areas - MS Dhoni praises his match-winning bowler
Chennai Super Kings registered their 3rd consecutive win in IPL 7 with a dominant performance against Mumbai Indians, who were handed their 3rd straight defeat.
Put in to bowl first, CSK never gave Mumbai much space to work their strokes and a superb death bowling show, especially from youngster Mohit Sharma, kept MI down to a gettable 141, a task which was further made easy by Brendon McCullum’s belligerent 71.
In his post-match presentation, skipper Dhoni, who played his 100th IPL match as captain, praised his bowlers. “The death bowling was superb. In the middle overs they (Mumbai) had a partnership going which meant we were under a bit of pressure. It meant the bowlers had to step up,” he said.
Mohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, and was awarded the Man of the Match award for his return of 4/14 from 4 overs. He bowled a superb 19th over in the first innings, picking up 3 wickets, including that of the dangerous Kieron Pollard, and conceding just 2 runs.
“We were not sure how the wicket would play in the second half. Last game we played here we realised the slower one works really well, you had to hit the right areas which Mohit did,” Dhoni said.
