Moneyball9 Fantasy Tips: 6th ODI - West Indies vs South Africa
The series has been excellent so far with each team exchanging their spots at the top of the table already. No team currently has momentum on their side as they have notched up wins when their chances seemed slim. Home team West Indies defeated Australia in the previous game and are now up against South Africa, whom they beat in the tournament opener. The Proteas cannot afford to slip up here especially after losing to Australia in their previous game. Fantasy users will certainly have a headache in picking a side with so many big match players available to choose from. Here’s an analysis:
Batsmen:
Faf du Plessis scored a half-century in the previous game but he is too expensive at 8500 rupees. You should look to choose only one among Du Plessis and Hashim Amla. The latter is renowned for his consistency and also costs 1000 bucks less so opting for him would make more sense. Farhan Behardien is another option you should certainly consider with his price tag quite cheap at 6000. He can also be handy with the ball if he manages to send down some tidy overs.
How about the West Indies batsmen though? Andre Fletcher is highly unreliable as he is more of a player who would look to score quick than score big. Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels are the other two options to explore with the latter scoring a match-winning 92 in the previous game against Australia. Can he be trusted again? Samuels doesn’t often come up with back-to-back big efforts so it could be quite risky to pick him. Bravo on the other hand, looked good in his 39 the other night. He needed that quite badly after failing to spend enough time in the middle, so you can take a punt and pick him even though he will cost you 8000 bucks.
Wicket-keeper batsman:
Johnson Charles might have given Windies a perfect start with a quickfire 48 the other night but he is another of those batsmen whom you cannot rely upon. You certainly cannot rely on him especially when you also have Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers to choose from! It is once again one of those toughest calls to be made that could have a huge impact in how your fantasy team shapes up.
Picking de Villiers might hamper you financially and you will have to compromise on the bowling front but if you pick de Kock, you get to save 2000 bucks. De Kock has had a quite series so one reckons that a big knock is just around the corner.
All-rounder:
Kieron Pollard and Carlos Brathwaite have been making some useful contributions for their side and Chris Morris on the other hand hasn’t had an impact and was also left out of the team in their previous game. If he comes back, he should slot in to your team as he has the potential to be more consistent with both bat and ball than the West Indian all-rounders.
Pollard is very expensive so users won’t be able to afford him, so Brathwaite is your first choice option. At 7000 bucks, he fits the bill and in conditions that are better for batting, he can make a huge impact in a short space of time.
Bowlers:
South Africa did pick Wayne Parnell in the last two games and he has done a superb job with the ball picking up three wickets at a good economy. He was also in good form recently in the domestic circuit so he can fetch you additional points with the bat as well. He will cost you 6500 bucks but it could be totally worth it. Kagiso Rabada is available for just 5000, hence do not miss out on a chance to pick him in your side as he can prove to be really handful.
Aaron Phangiso had a disappointing outing in the previous game and he could pave way for Tabraiz Shamsi who could prove to be the bigger threat. In that scenartio, the user can prefer Shamsi who will cost only 5000 rupees. From the West Indies point of view, do not look beyond one man, Sunil Narine. He ratted the same line up in the tournament opener by picking up six wickets. Even though you would expect the Proteas to bat a bit more carefully this time, ignore the magician at your own peril.
Our ideal team: Hashim Amla, Darren Bravo, Quinton de Kock, Farhan Behardien, Carlos Brathwaite, Wayne Parnell, Tabraiz Shamsi, Sunil Narine and Kagiso Rabada.
