Moneyball9 Fantasy Tips: Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
So the final league game of the season sees two sides that are desperate for a win. Royal Challengers Bangalore have been flying high after a disappointing start to their campaign and they come up against Delhi Daredevils who started off well but faded away. This promises to be an intriguing contest and with plenty of top players to choose from, here’s an analysis of the players to pick for the fantasy:
Batsmen:
Everyone wants to pick Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. All three cost 10,000 rupees though which would mean that you will be having only 30,000 to spend on the rest of the players. So is it possible to put forward a ‘fantasy-winning’ side despite spending 30,000 bucks on just three players? Of course it is possible at least with this game.
Virat Kohli is a certainty. Chris Gayle has been striking the ball well in the last two games and he should get into the side as well purely because of the damage he can cause if you do not pick him. Gayle in this form is too big a gamble to miss out on. But if you are still willing to go ahead with a gamble, then either Sanju Samson or JP Duminy can be considered. Considering his current form and his price tag of just 5000 rupees, Karun Nair should ideally be a certain inclusion in that team. His knock the other night against Sunrisers Hyderabad was right out of the top draw.
Sachin Baby can prove to be the ‘flexible’ pick. With him costing just 3000 rupees, it will be ideal to have him in the squad to balance the books but also as a backup option if the RCB top order fails.
Wicket-keeper batsman:
Only one name! It is all about one name! AB de Villiers in this form is a certainty. Yes he was dismissed for a duck in the previous game and he came in very late to bat because of the century stand between Kohli and Gayle but once again just like how it was with Gayle, AB is another player who is too big to be kept out. The damage he can cause is irreplaceable. Quinton de Kock is another option and he did score a century against the same side in their previous encounter. But going with AB would still be a sensible move.
All-rounder:
Here comes the tricky part! You got three top all-rounders to choose from but only one of them can have a spot in the side. Shane Watson is literally ruled out of the equation since he costs 9500 rupees. If you are intent on having his services, then you got to take the gamble of dropping either Gayle or de Villiers in order to generate more money. Chris Morris and Carlos Brathwaite are realistic targets.
Out of these two, Brathwaite is available on the cheap and with him having a big impact in the last game, he can prove to be an ideal pick. Considering RCB have one of the weaker bowling attacks in the tournament, Brathwaite can make use of the situation present in front of him. Morris costs 1000 bucks more and is also coming off from a small injury which kept him out of action in the last game. He has been a match-winner too for the Daredevils so the call to pick one among the two can also be based on the money that is required to acquire the right bowlers.
Bowlers:
With the Raipur track providing plenty of runs the other night, it is not advisable to pick two spinners in the side. Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Amit Mishra cost 7000 rupees and one of them can certainly be present. Bowlers like Zaheer Khan and Nathan Coulter-Nile cost a lot of money and haven’t been amongst the wickets as well. So one should consider Sreenath Aravind, who not only is going to cost less but has also been picking crucial wickets after forging his way back in to the RCB side. Chris Jordan is finally getting his groove back and he can prove to be instrumental against a middle order that can get wobbly.
My ideal team: Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Karun Nair, Sachin Baby, Carlos Brathwaite, Amit Mishra, Chris Jordan, Sreenath Aravind
