Moneyball9 Fantasy Tips: Delhi Daredevils vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
One team has the usual suspects to pick from while the other team loves throwing in surprises catching us off guard. Games involving the Delhi Daredevils can be quite tricky for a fantasy user considering they even go on to drop/rest their superstars. That is why I would personally prefer picking more Sunrisers players in my team and lesser Daredevil’s players. But on the other side, the Daredevils cannot afford a loss from here after putting themselves in a must-win situation. So they won’t be able to gamble and drop a big name ahead of this clash. Here’s an analysis of the players whom you can pick to stand a chance of winning:
Batsmen:
Picking David Warner in your side is a must at all costs. The Sunrisers have been heavily dependent on him to get them off to good starts and he has led from the front. So we now have two more spots left for the batsmen. Yuvraj Singh has been listed as a batsman here in this game, so he can get the nod ahead of Shikhar Dhawan since he can also be used as a bowler by the SRH management.

There can be a toss-up between Dhawan and Warner and that should depend on who is batting first. Dhawan has tasted success with a healthy strike rate whenever SRH have batted first and in Warner’s case, he has looked good in run chases. Karun Nair looks like the most suitable candidate from the Daredevils among the batsmen. He will cost you only 5000 bucks. JP Duminy is another contender but he may not even get to play tomorrow considering DD’s rotation policy. So with a maximum of 22,500 rupees, three players are sorted.
Wicket-keeper batsman:
No brainer this one! Quinton de Kock has been in scintillating form and he should get the nod ahead of the rest. Naman Ojha and Rishabh Pant bat way too low down the order to come and make an impact and Sam Billings’ selection isn’t assured.
All-rounder:
Will Carlos Brathwaite get a game? If yes, he is one option. Else, Chris Morris is the ideal one. The South African has been delivering with both bat and ball in crunch situations for his side in this tournament and one can expect him to put his hand up again in this crucial encounter. Moises Henriques hasn’t exactly set the stage on fire this season but if you are up for a gamble, then choose him ahead of Morris.
Bowlers:
Remember, Ashish Nehra is ruled out with an injury which means the onus will be on the trio of Barindar Sran, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman to deliver. In normal circumstances, all three of them should make the cut. Bhuvneshwar and Mustafizur are expensive since they both cost 7000 rupees each. You can make up for it with Sran’s purchase since the left armer costs only 3000.
But that would also mean that you are opening yourself up to the possibility of not having a single bowler from the Daredevils. So in that case, you can afford to drop either Mustafizur or Bhuvneshwar in order to bring in someone like Amit Mishra, who will cost the same.
To round off your nine-man team, you will have to choose a flexible player from the list depending on what your squad needs the most and your remaining budget. Sanju Samson is a realistic option alongside Brathwaite. But if you are looking to surprise your opponents, you can also go for the likes of Deepak Hooda, Eoin Morgan, Moises Henriques or Pawan Negi.
My ideal team: Quinton de Kock (WK), David Warner, Yuvraj Singh, Karun Nair, Chris Morris, Sanju Samson, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman and Barindran Sran.
