Moneyball9 Fantasy Tips: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kings XI Punjab

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli

Any game involving Royal Challengers Bangalore is bound to give users some headache in any fantasy league. With only 60,000 rupees to spend and loads of superstars to choose from, you need to spend wisely and choose the right player. The game against Kings XI Punjab is RCB’s final home game of the season and it is also a very important one for their qualification chances. Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis have returned home so that is another factor to consider. Here’s a breakdown on some of the best picks from both sets:

Batsmen:

With a minimum of three batsmen to choose, one name that should go into your team without any second thoughts is Virat Kohli. With 752 runs this season, Kohli is already running away with the orange cap and he should be your first pick even though he is going to cost 10,000 rupees. So that makes it 50,000 for the remaining 8.

Chris Gayle might have finally hit some form in RCB’s last game but picking him is still a huge gamble and with him costing 10,000 bucks, you would be short of money to pick AB de Villiers in your side. He could still prove to be susceptible early on in his innings against Sandeep Sharma. But if you think the law of averages would finally catch up with Kohli, then you can take Gayle ahead of the Indian superstar but you could go on to regret it big time.

You can now take a call between Murali Vijay, David Miller and Hashim Amla for a spot in your line-up. On form, Amla is the ideal pick but Miller could make use of these batting friendly conditions and an ordinary seam attack to finally fetch some runs. So if you want to go safe, it is a toss-up between Vijay and Amla but if you are looking to take a gamble, Miller is the man!

The final slot should go to a player for whom you don’t have to spend big. Considering both sides, someone like Sachin Baby for 3000 rupees is the ideal choice.

Wicket-keeper:

There is only one outright contender for this slot and that’s AB de Villiers. If you are choosing someone else, you will then be taking the biggest gamble of the game especially after what he did at the same venue in RCB’s previous match. If you are the biggest gambler on earth, then opt for KL Rahul who has been very prolific this season. But then again, RCB are using him in the middle order so he might not even get a chance to bat with the kind of form de Villiers and Kohli are in.

All-rounders:

This is the tricky zone! One would be tempted to include Shane Watson in the XI but picking both Kohli and de Villiers will make it very tough. Watson has been consistent with the ball since the start but he has also been off colour in the last few games and considering the fact that he could get only a few deliveries to bat, it is advisable to not pick him.

Farhan Behardien is certain to play in Maxwell’s absence and his death overs hitting ability can be a huge bonus. Akshar Patel could get whacked badly in this ground against the two superstars so picking someone like Stuart Binny who will cost only 5000 rupees can prove to be helpful as he is handy with the bat in the end and also can pick one or two wickets with the new ball.

Bowlers:

Yes it is the Chinnaswamy stadium but you still have to pick three bowlers. Kings XI’s Sandeep Sharma can prove to be a good pick as he can trouble Gayle and even Kohli early on. He has also been effective at the death with his Yorkers off late and hence he can minimize the damage. And then it is better to round off with two RCB bowlers who have done well on this wicket recently. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and seamer Sreenath Aravind have been amongst the wickets.

Mohit Sharma is another bowler who gets wickets at the death with his variations but one believes that he can for plenty of runs in a ground which is known for witnessing the most number of sixes this edition.

My ideal team:

Virat Kohli, Hashim Amla, Sachin Baby, AB de Villiers, Farhan Behardien, Stuart Binny, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sreenath Aravind and Sandeep Sharma.
