Mashrafe Mortaza lauds Bangladesh's batting effort
Nelson, March 5 (IANS) Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza on Thursday lauded the efforts of his batsmen who chased down a target of 319 runs against Scotland in a World Cup Pool A encounter at the Saxton Oval here. The victory was Bangladesh's highest successful One-Day International (ODI) chase and the second highest successful run-chase in World Cups.
"The boys have done really well, especially the batsmen. Tamim (Iqbal) was outstanding along with Shakib (Al Hasan) and Mushfiqur (Rahim)," said Mortaza at the post-match presentation ceremony.
The skipper added that they have not been bowling well and would like to fare better in the next few games against stronger opponents.
"Our bowlers haven't bowled well but it's a good thing that the batters got runs before the big games. We will try our level best to play well in all three departments. We still have two chances, so hopefully we will try our best against England, if not against New Zealand," concluded Mortaza.
Bangladesh next play England on March 9 at the Adelaide Oval followed by their trip to New Zealand where they face the Black Caps in Hamilton on March 13.
