Raina slog sweeps

We will take a look at the players who have scored the most runs in IPL. Being the shortest format, most of them in the list would be batsmen who batted in the top 3 for most part of their IPL careers.

Player          Matches        Total runs    Batting Average      Highest Score
 Suresh Raina (CSK)             110            3097           34.79            100*

 Virat Kohli (RCB)             105            2455           29.93             99

1. Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings)

The most experienced IPL player tops the list. Raina has never missed a single game for CSK and his consistency in this format was never in doubt. With more than 3000 runs at a healthy average of 34, he stands first in the list.

2. Rohit Sharma (Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians)

The man who never fails in the IPL, Rohit Sharma is at number 2 in this list. He scored his first elusive hundred against KKR and has been a vital cog for the Mumbai Indians. Also none can dismiss the countless great knocks he has played for his former team, the dismantled Deccan chargers.

3. Gautam Gambhir (Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders)

The KKR captain also has scored the most fifties in the entire history of the Indian premier league. He has always been a consistent performer with the bat in almost all the editions and played a huge part when his side won the title in the 2012 edition.

4. Chris Gayle (Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Arguably the most successful batsman in the tournament’s history. With a colossal batting average of almost 49, Gayle storm literally took over IPL in the 2011 edition when he signed for RCB as a replacement player. Since then there has been no looking back.

5. Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Started off as a finisher for the Royal challengers during the early years, but finally settled down at his favourite number 3 spot, Kohli has risen rapidly in the table. Might very well finish on top when his IPL career gets over eventually.
