Movie being planned on India's 1983 World Cup victory

Kapil Dev receiving the World Cup

Following the path of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a film is being planned on a big scale to showcase the journey of 14 players who brought India’s first cricket World Cup home, both on and off the field.

There were rumours that Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder and MD of Celebrity Cricket League was planning a movie on the league. However, he recently revealed the details of the movie to Mumbai Mirror.

“The film will be the official biography of India’s first big win that was instrumental in putting the country on the international map,” he said.

Vishnu is already in contact with the players to get all the information about their life and it is planned that A-list actors will play the role of Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar.

Vishnu said, “We want them to officially be on board and give their inputs on the script. I also want them to take part in the promotions. We will sign A-list actors to play Dev and Sunil Gavaskar.”

As per sources, few of the roles in the movie will be done by the players themselves but major part will be played by the actors.
“If the script, which should be locked in a couple of weeks, requires real cricketers, you will see them on screen. But, this is a big-budget commercial film along the lines of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. So, it’s mostly going to be actors playing the cricketers,” said Vishnu.

The film will be directed by national award winner director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
