Pan Singh's Support throughout Mahi's Career
Mahi came from a humble background. MS Dhoni's father was a government employee and he wanted his boy to have a good education to secure a decent government job when he grows up. But the young boy was more engrossed in sports. When he was asked to play for his school's cricket team, Pan Singh initially opposed it. But when his wife and daughter supported the budding cricketer, he softened and went on to support his son to follow his dreams. Hence, the course of one of India's greatest players began with his family's love and support.
While MSD was playing cricket, his mother and sister ensured that he studied too. His father was quite strict when it came to studying. On his father's persistence, he finished his exam papers before travelling to a different city to play cricket tournaments.
While his father was content with his younger son playing a few Ranji matches, his mother was sure her son wanted more than that.
After playing cricket for 3 to 4 years, Mahi could not make it to India's national squad. When he could not make it big in cricket and was offered a post in railway in sports quota, Pan Singh asked him to accept the offer. The disheartened player did not want to disappoint his father and became a Travelling Ticket Examiner at Kharagpur railway station. It was hindering his dream yet he continued for his father's sake.
Ultimately, Mahi could not take it anymore and left his railway duty to follow his cricketing dream. When he requested his father to give him one more year to prove himself, his father agreed. Since then, MS Dhoni’s father has supported him in following his dream.

Pan Singh Dhoni on Mahi's Biopic
According to reports, Pan Singh Dhoni turns emotional each time he sees the theatrical trailer of 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,' the biopic made on his son in 2016. MS Dhoni's father keeps recalling the difficulties faced by his son whose journey began as a ticket collector at Kharagpur Station before he found stardom in cricket.
Even the cricketer, who is known for his coolness under pressure, got moved by the biopic. He didn't say a single word for close to 20 minutes post the private screening in 2016.
Mahi and his family members were very pleased with how Sushant Singh Rajput had portrayed the character. They think the biopic wouldn't have shaped up so well without the late actor, Sushant, and director Neeraj Pandey.
