MS Dhoni impressed by Sushant Singh Rajput's portrayal in upcoming biopic

Dhoni expressed surprise at Rajput’s accurate imitation

Eagerly anticipating the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, the man himself has been left amazed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s precise representation of his minute mannerisms. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie is presented and produced by Fox Star Studios in association with Inspired Entertainment.

In a statement, the wicket-keeper batsman heaped praise on the 30-year old’s commitment to undergo a thorough training session in order to capture his playing style as well as cricketing skills.

Dhoni felt, “He (Sushant) has worked very hard. He was practicing every day for more than nine months. He was batting every day for over three hours when it comes to portraying the (cricket) shots.”

One of the those includes his trademark helicopter shot for which the actor had to spend quite a bit of time to perfect the bat-flow. Intended for targeting the mid-wicket area, the particular stroke requires a rapid swing of the bat.

Happy with the outcome, the right-hander from Ranchi also quipped, “Also the way I walk, the way I talk, he has copied almost everything. In fact I was amazed to see him do all these things.”

The talented actor enthused, “Back in 2006 or 2007, my family and I had reached out to Dhoni and clicked a picture with him. He is the one person for whom I have enormous respect and this opportunity was very exciting.”

If the trailer is anything to go by, then the audience are in for a treat as they relive the journey of a World-Cup winning captain. The movie is slated to release on September 30 in multiple languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi.
